About the Employer:

We are a well-established cafe and a brand committed to delivering high-quality baked goods along with other products, upholding strong food safety and occupational health and safety practices. We are looking for a passionate BAKER to join our Gloria Jeans Cafe team at 205 Main Street, Upper Hutt Central, Upper Hutt Wellington.

Job Description:

As a Baker, you will be responsible for the full cycle of baking operations, ensuring products meet quality standards and regulatory compliance. Your role will include:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checking cleanliness of baking equipment and premises prior to production, ensuring compliance
with food safety and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
  • Assessing the quality of raw materials and precisely weighing and measuring ingredients.
  • Preparing dough and pastry goods, including kneading, maturing, mixing, cutting, moulding, and
shaping.
  • Preparing a variety of pastry and pie fillings using standard recipes and methods.
  • Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine appropriate baking times and
ensure consistency and quality.
  • Coordinating the entire baking process: forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and
cooling of bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry products.
  • Glazing and finishing baked products, including buns, pastries, and decorating cakes with icing and
cream.
  • Operating and maintaining baking machinery including dough rollers, moulders, and biscuit cutters.
  • Cleaning and greasing baking tins, trays, and all associated equipment regularly as part of hygiene

and maintenance protocols.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven knowledge of commercial baking operations and food safety standards is preferred.
  • Ability to follow recipes, manage time efficiently, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced
environment.
  • Physically fit with the ability to stand for long hours and handle heavy baking trays or ingredients.
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for quality.

Additional Information:

This is a genuine, full-time permanent role (minimum 30 hours per week).
