Job Position: Permanent – Full time Vehicle Panelbeater & Spray Painter
JM Motor is a Christchurch based panel beating and spray painting workshop. We are employing a Permanent Full time Vehicle Panelbeater & Spray Painter
Requirements:- must have least 3-yr experience in panel beating and vehicle spray paint, with quality product.
- Work nature of this position consists of half portion of panel beating and half portion of spray painting. Must be able to complete 6-8 panels per day.
- Must be able to complete the job independently, and work under high pace.
- Must be able to have a pre-job trailer at Christchurch.
- Key tasks and duties:
- removing damaged panels and parts, and removing upholstery and accessories to gain access;
- removing dents by hammering panels;
- replacing badly damaged sections with new or second-hand panels;
- filling depressions with plastic filler, and filing, grinding and sanding repaired surfaces;
- fitting repaired or replacement panels on vehicles and refitting body hardware such as door locks and trims;
- may assist vehicle body builders in constructing and restoring custom-designed, vintage and other specialty vehicles; may spray-paint vehicles.
- Sanding surfaces by hand and with power sanders;
- removing rough spots on vehicle panels;
- masking areas not to be painted with tape and paper;
- colour matching and mixing paints to match paint shades, and selecting pre-mixed paint;
- applying primer and finishing coats using spray-guns, and sanding surfaces between coats;
- touching up paintwork and applying polish to vehicles;
- removing masking papers, and waxing and polishing finished paintwork;
- painting signs and artwork on vehicles;
- Treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals.
- Work location: Christchurch Central City
- Hourly Wage: $30-40 (depends on ability and experience)
- Working days: Basically Monday to Friday, appreciate if can work on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) for overtime work as our workshop has high workload.
- Basic Working hours: 6-8 hours per day, 30-40 hours per week.
- Applicants must have NZ residency.
- Must be able to communicate by basic English.
- Must provide at least two valid referees contacts of previous employers for consultation. We will call them directly to know more about applicants’ character.
- Must have clear NZ driver license
- We have tools in the workshop, but welcome applicants to bring their own spray guns and tools which they are familiar with.
