We are looking for an experienced NZ Registered Occupational Therapistto join us on a permanent basis working within the Emergency Department.
Youwill join the existing ED team which includes an Expert Occupational TherapyPractitioner.As part of the team you will be further developing the ED servicefor Occupational Therapy and the wider Allied Health team.The position is part time and will be rostered over a 7 day week between the hours of 0730 and2000, as 7 x 10 hour shifts a fortnight, we operate a 4 weekly roster.
You will have aminimum of 5 years clinical experience and have proven advanced clinical skillsand knowledge of the acute hospital setting, and working with older peopleexperiencing frailty related conditions.You will be able to demonstrateclinical leadership expertise and experience in leading quality improvementinitiatives.
In this role, youwill be responsible for:Working with patients In the ED area to deliver specific occupationaltherapy assessments which include a major focus on frailty and head injuryassessment.
Comprehensive assessments will support the wider ED team to make sounddecision on discharge to home or admission to the hospital for patientsseen.
You will work as part of an IDTAllied Health team and will support further development of IDT working in thisarea.
Working with patients from diverse social and cultural backgrounds andworking collaboratively with whanau, the wider multidisciplinary team to ensurethe best outcomes;Identifying, contributing towards and leading service improvement initiatives.Being involved in transfer and discharge planning.Mentoring and supervision of students and other colleagues within the widerOccupational Therapy serviceAbout YouYour skills willinclude:Comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning./interpretationwithin scope and competency, and problem solving skills5 years clinical experience with experience/knowledge of working in acutecare environment as well as older persons health.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, to develop positiveinterpersonal relationships, and work flexibly within the inter-disciplinaryteam, with a team player attitudeExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, to liaise effectivelywith health professionals both within the in-patient services and in thecommunityStrong clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practiceEffective time management and organisational skillsStrong prioritisation skills and experience with complex dischargeplanningRegistration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and current AnnualPracticing Certificate (or eligibility to obtain);A positive attitude and passion for this area of work;It is also expectedthat you will contribute to the ward weekend roster at times.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is- the weaving of wellnesses.
