Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

We have multiple permanent and fixed term positions available (please indicate in your cover letter what you are seeking). This will be based in our general x-ray team who work between Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals, covering all aspects of our busy 24/7 x-ray service including ED, outpatients, fluoroscopy, NICU and theatre imaging.

All roles will include day, evening, night and weekend shifts.

We offer an amazing team, ultramodern facilities and a work/life balance that is second to none. General X-ray has 100+ staff and 21 rooms spread across 3 main sites, but we pride ourselves on still being a close-knit friendly bunch.

We treat our people as our greatest asset, and this is reflected in our social rostering policies and 44-week roster pattern. These allow you to plan your work around your life, not the other way round - perfect for family life or a busy social calendar.

Our roster is also fully MECA compliant with 1 in 4 weekends and never more than 7 days in a row.

Our beautiful building is light, airy and sits right next to the Avon River and leafy Hagley Park.

We may not always take ourselves too seriously, but we have a serious dedication to our patients and to providing a high-quality general x-ray service across the 2nd largest district in the country. We are proud to serve a diverse community from Ashburton to Kaikoura to the Chatham Islands, and all points in between.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering quality patient-centred radiographic services which are efficient and effective for the needs of the patients and the service;
  • Effective documentation of procedures (where appropriate);
  • The support and facilitation of quality indicators/programmes;
  • Supervision and clinical training or Medical Imaging Students, where appropriate.

About You

The successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Solid experience of general imaging, preferably in a larger centre but this is not essential
  • A genuine passion for radiography. You will demonstrate this when teaching the Ara students who we host for clinical placements.
  • A strong work ethic and a dedication to teamwork.
  • A strong commitment to both patient care and producing high quality imaging across ED, inpatients, outpatients, fluoroscopy and theatre
  • Experience of dealing with patients from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Registration with the MRTB and a valid practicing certificate

You will be required to participate in a 24/7 rostered service including on call.
