Production Manager- Steel Manufacturing

Unite Recruit is seeking a Production Manager to join an innovative and growing niche manufacturer of steel products for commercial and industrial clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-energy team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days are the same.

- The Role
- Supervise 9-13 employees operating shop machines, spot welders, CNC and robotic machines, MIG/TIG welders, wire straighteners, and coating equipment.
- Be hands-on when required - this is not a desk-only position.
- Oversee day-to-day production, ensuring high-quality output, safety, and on-time delivery.
- Allocate tasks, plan schedules, and ensure tooling, materials, and machinery are ready for production.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the design and development of new ideas.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance feedback to staff.
- Monitor production KPIs and prepare weekly reports for senior management.
- Ensure machinery is well-maintained and up-to-date training is provided.
- Collaborate with admin and other departments to resolve issues and streamline production.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing H&S protocols.
What We're Looking For Essential:
- 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent practical knowledge in machinery/electrical/metalworking.
- High attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Health & Safety knowledge and commitment to safe practices.
- A positive, energetic approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with resistance spot welding and general welding technology.
- Hands-on machinery setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with production software and performance tracking systems.
