We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Whitianga. In this hands-on role, you'll be actively involved in a wide range of projects requiring geotechnical engineering, both locally and across the North Island.

You’ll working with our Whitianga team along with our Taupo office, contributing to residential, commercial, infrastructure, and land development projects, with the opportunity to gain exposure to varied geology and project scopes.

We require a capable and resourceful Geotechnical Engineer that may also prove themselves as a Team Lead. Proven experience will be required on infrastructure related projects from concept development through to detailed design, implementation phases and beyond.

We deliver projects and provide engineering, procurement and construction expertise. Thanks to our range of services and the diversity we work with our customers at every stage of their project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out field investigations, including hand augers, Scala penetrometer tests, DCPs, and soil sampling.
  • Log soil and rock samples and ensure accurate data collection.
  • Prepare field reports, site observations, and documentation for engineering assessments.
  • Assist with construction monitoring and inspections on active work sites.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians in our Whitianga and Taupo offices.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company and industry standards.
About You
  • +5 years experience in a geotechnical engineering.
  • Tertiary qualified in Geotechnical Engineering. Ideally CPEng or working towards it.
  • Experienced in Geotechnical Engineering investigations and design solutions.
  • Familiarity with NZ ground conditions and field testing procedures.
  • Familiar with slope assessment and remediation design such as anchored retaining walls, MSE, rock stabilisation, etc.
  • Knowledge of Earthworks and the use of Civil 12D or 3D will be advantageous.
  • Conversant with NZ regulations, code of practice and standards.
  • Familiar with project lifecycle and understands design, construction, commissioning, and closeout phases.
  • Familiar with NZS3910 contracts and administering throughout construction.
  • Be able to participate and provide input into project cost estimation, planning and asset management.
  • Agile team player and be able to lead a small team of engineers and designers to deliver solutions.
  • Well organised with excellent communication skills.
