We are looking for a compassionate, energetic and fit person to care for a male paraplegic with head injuries in his 60’s. The job requires someone who is a bit of a jack of all trades and is willing to give anything a go. His home is situated in an idyllic rural position 30 minutes north of Kerikeri.
It is close to multiple beaches and set on 5 acres. This is a varied position with the main duties including personal cares, cleaning, cooking, yard work, gardening, moving stock and pest control. He also has a gorgeous Rottweiler that requires walking, feeding and general caring for.
A love for the beach, fishing (he owns his own boat) and getting out and about would be advantageous as these are his hobbies and supporting him engage in these would only but add to the position. The job is full time LIVE IN, time off includes Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s 9am-2:30pm and every third weekend Friday morning to Monday afternoon.
Further time off can be negotiated as required. The major challenges of this position are managing his pain levels and head injury side effects; however his daughter (a registered nurse) lives close by and is available for assistance when required.
She will be the one to provide care for him on your time off. A thick skin and patience is needed; however no previous experience is ok as full training will be given. An empathetic, tolerant and fun-loving personality as well as the ability to be self motivated and to motivate without being pushy is a bonus.

A full driver’s licence is necessary, and the ability to tow and back a trailer would be ideal. Overall this position is challenging, yet rewarding and offers variety and change that could be just what you are looking for. Who wouldn’t want to be paid to hang out at the beach or go fishing!!!
