Community Support Worker- Complex Care Support - Rangiora

We are currently seeking experienced & qualified Community Support Workers for our 24/7 Spinal injury complex care service user living in Oxford, with potential for permanent shifts in the future. These are for Casual Cover Shifts, with the opportunity for permanent work in the future, therefore allowing you more flexibility!

Responsibilities may Include:
- Working closely with our service user to provide support as they go about their daily tasks
- Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
- Assisting with household management and meal preparation
- Supporting exercise programmes
- Assisting with accessing the community
- Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
- Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
- Medication support
- Ensuring the service user's comfort, safety, and well-being at all time
Job Location – Oxford (Waimakariri, Canterbury) – The service user is located in the rural Oxford area and is approximately 1-hour drive from Christchurch.
Employment Type: Casual
Days of Work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including AM, PM, and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.
The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling.It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.
The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
- Understanding of spinal injury care protocols and procedures is advantageous.
- Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred
- Previous experience in complex cares (for example bowel & catheter cares) is preferred (comprehensive
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required
- A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial (comprehensive training can be provided)
- Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.
- Pay Band: $24.13 - $30.03 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based
