The Ultimate Care Group is a privately owned Specialist Residential Aged Care Services Provider. We offer rest home, hospital, and dementia care to the elderly in 19 residential facilities throughout New Zealand. This opportunity is located within Ultimate Care Oakland which is centrally located in the heart of the Avenues and is one of the longest established rest home and hospital facilities in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.

About the role:

As the Chef/ Kitchen Manager you are accountable for the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards as well as for the overall efficient and effective management of the kitchen team to ensure a quality service is provided to the Oakland residents.

This is a permanent role working 7 am - 4:30 pm Saturday to Wednesday with an hourly rate of $30 - $35 per hour based on experience, qualifications and skillset.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring there is full compliance to the approved Food Control Plan
• Complying with all food safety requirements and maintaining high level of hygiene at all times
• Preparing and cooking set meals to residents' satisfaction in a timely manner the menu is on a 4 week rotation.
• Building and managing rapport with direct reports with full accountability for all aspects of coaching and performance development
• Lead audits and ensure all documentation is done to a high standard
• Foster and maintain strong supplier relationships

About you:

You will be a highly motivated and skilled Chef with excellent time management and communication skills.

To be successful you will bring:

• Relevant NZ Diploma level or higher - Chef Qualification is preferred
• Kitchen management experience within an aged care environment desired due to challenges that present in the environment
• Financial acumen
• The ability to empower and motivate a team
• Sound understanding of Food Safety Plans
