Welder fabricator - Christchurch
The plant includes CNC laser cutting, CNC turret punching and CNC press brakes, along with a range of good quality welding plant including pulse MIG.
We also operate modern business systems, with up-to-date CAD / CAM software. The position involves a wide variety of work, with light sheet through to plate, plus tube etc in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Work ranges from one-off jobbing with minimal information, to production work with fully detailed drawings.
Occasional site work for installation or site fabrication will also be required. All candidates MUST:
- Be a NZ resident or have a valid NZ work visa.
- Be trade qualified with proven experience and work-related references.
- Have experience fabricating in at least two of the following: mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, using both MIG and TIG welders on lighter gauge material (1 – 3 mm)
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld details.
- Be well organised with good attention to detail.
- Be able to work on site as a representative of the company.
- Be reliable, punctual, tidy, working well with others and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Be able to pass a drug test and have a clean criminal record.
- Be aware of, and comply with Health & Safety requirements and compliance.
- Have a current Class 1 driver’s licence and forklift driving experience.
- Be physically fit and healthy
The ideal candidate will also:
- Hold or have history of holding welding certificates in various positions.
- Have stainless steel finishing experience to a high level.
- Be able to use the full range of fabrication equipment with experience using sheet metal cutting & forming equipment such as press brakes, guillotines and rollers.
- Have a Forklift “F” endorsement.
- Willingness and capability to mentor other staff and potentially an apprentice in the future.

Factory hours are from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, with opportunity for overtime to meet varying workload.
