We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Dunedin. Whether you’re an experienced QS or just starting out and eager to learn, this is a great opportunity to build your career in the roofing and construction industry.
About the Role:This role plays a key part in helping us deliver successful projects across the region. You'll be involved in estimating, cost management, procurement, and client communication, working closely with both our onsite teams and external partners.
Training and support will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:- Business Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients to support ongoing project opportunities.
- Take-Offs: Measure and quantify materials and labour requirements directly from drawings and specifications.
- Estimating: Assist in calculating competitive rates for roofing and construction work.
- Procurement: Help place orders with suppliers and subcontractors in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Cost Reporting: Support the preparation of cost reports that track the financial position of projects.
- Valuations: Assist in preparing monthly commercial claims based on completed work.
- Contracts: Review client contracts and flag any key commercial considerations.
- Forecasting: Help forecast the remaining cost to complete each project.
- Experience in quantity surveying or construction is preferred, but not essential.
- A genuine interest in the construction industry and a desire to grow your skills.
- Strong numeracy, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, can-do attitude and ability to manage your time well.
- Comfortable with technology and able to pick up new systems seamlessly.
- Familiarity with quantity surveying or estimating software is a bonus, but not required.
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday. Flexibility can be discussed for the right person.
