Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Senior Apprentice

JG Civil Ltd, a civil construction company, based in Silverdale, Auckland.

We are seeking to employ a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Senior Apprentice who is nearing the end of their training / apprenticeship.

Your primary work will require you to work alongside our Workshop Manager and will involve the servicing and maintaining of our fleet of vehicles, Trucks, Trailers, heavy machinery such as Excavators, Rollers, Compactors as well as various other plant & equipment.

• Be trade certified or working towards completion
• Have a full (clean) drivers license preferably with the following endorsements - W,T,R,F,2f,4f
• Proven experience in maintaining heavy diesel equipment
• Experience in the Civil Construction industry would be a bonus but not a requirement
• Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to problem solve
• Have a sound knowledge of Warrant / Certificate of Fitness regulations and safety standards
• Have fabrication & welding skills
• Have a good understanding & knowledge of both diesel & petrol engines
• Be well organised, have good communication & record keeping skills
• Have a high standard of workmanship & attention to detail
• Is self motivated, has the ability to work alone, unsupervised and with others as required
• Must have a positive attitude and a sound understanding of Health & Safety work practices
• Honest, reliable, drug free and have a good level of fitness
