Job Description - Camp Cook x2
Rodco has been providing quality forestry services to forest owners since 2000.
We currently have 26 permanent employees and expect this number to increase to 90+ for the Forest Establishment (planting) season. A large percentage of these people will be new arrivals from Pacific Islands. So much of the cooking will need to cater to Pacifica tastes.
Rodco is committed to promoting the personal wellbeing of all its employees.Our employees need to work hard so in order to maximise productivity and remain healthy a good diet is essential.
Our teams are working in numerous locations throughout Southland and are housed in camps as near as possible to worksites. Cooks will be required to live in camp and to relocate with the crew as necessary.
Accommodation (single) is provided, rent for which is deducted from wages.
These are permanent, full time, largely self managed positions.
Hours involve early starts and late finishes with time off during the day, 8 to 10 hours, 5-6 days per week.
Our camps are drug and alcohol free.
Payment shall be negotiated based on relevant skills and experience. However we would expect it to be within $25 to $32/hr range.
Personal Attributes: Neat and tidy
CaringEmpathy and understanding with respect to Pacific Island culture and people.
Highly organized and self driven.
Happy to live and work in a camp environment (back packer style accommodation).
Full drivers license is desirable.
Experienced cooking for groups (20 to 40)
A thorough understanding of food safety protocols
Main duties include: Ordering / Purchasing of food stuffs
Preparation, Cooking, Serving and Cleaning.Ensuring balanced nutritious meals are prepared in a timely manner.
Ensure food is prepared, cooked and stored in accordance with food safety standards.
Supervision of assistants.
Some general cleaning.
