About our group | Mo te roopu

Our Regulatory Policy team helps to bring the EPA’s vision to life by developing the EPA’s regulatory frameworks and delivering on the EPAs responsibilities and strategic direction.

Our kaupapa helps the EPA to protect the environment by providing thought leadership around regulatory policy and driving the delivery of the EPA’s regulatory work programme.

The protection of the environment sits at the heart of every decision we make. We’re a passionate and connected crew, who aren’t shy of putting in the mahi to achieve meaningful outcomes for our people and the environment.

About the role | Mo te tunga

We are looking for a Manager to lead the EPA’s approach to regulatory policy development and implementation including regulatory practices, procedures and policies through continuous improvement. With the support of the Principal Advisors, you will manage complex regulatory policy programmes on complicated issues with significant sensitivity and risk and provides frank policy advice.

About you | Mohou ake

Ideally you will have 10+ years’ experience advising on matters of strategic, regulatory and/or operational policy in local or central government (as a guideline)

Alongside this, we are looking for an individual with a range of skills and capabilities including:

  • Strong knowledge of policy frameworks and policy development process
  • Excellent policy craft with experience of implementing operational policy
  • Solid knowledge of machinery of government processes, including the role of the regulator and regulatory practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence change across the public sector in regulatory matters
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant area of expertise (e.g. environmental management or analysis, science, public policy, economics or law)
  • Critical ability, including problem solving and analysis
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a high degree of EQ and a collaborative working style

Salary range | $140,080 - $210,120 per annum (midpoint $175,100). This is the full salary range. Appointments are made within the range depending on skills and experience.
