Data management role with strong focus on data integrationNewly created position in Rail Safety regulationJoin a supportive and inclusive teamUse your relationship management and data skills to influence Rail Safety across New Zealand.Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity':We have an opportunity for a Senior Data Solutions Analyst to join our Rail Safety Regulation team, to improve the accessibility and integrity of the data required to meet Rail Safety Regulation needs.
You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining reporting tools and databases to both analyse and present information and then analyse and integrate information from various data sources and platforms to improve cohesion, integrity, accessibility and retention of the date held by the team.This is a role where you will be responsible for your own work- plan and will put your communication skills to good use to leverage input from stakeholders, information services and digital teams to obtain the information required to meet team needs.
This is a key role in the team, and responsibilities will include:Partnering collaboratively with stakeholders to develop understanding and define analytical requirementsDesign, develop, implement and maintain dashboards and other information locations from multiple sources (internal to NZTA and external at national level), in user-friendly and sustainable formats with a focus on self-service, to support rail system oversight and decision making by the Rail Safety Regulation teamUtilising strong problem solving and research skills to understand data and architecture currently undocumented to establish and document data standards and trendsProvide recommendations on how data trends can guide decisionsYou will find out more about the role here.
We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $108,324-$144,134 commensurate to skills and experience. To be successful you will need to bring the following:Proven capability and experience working with and/or integrating public transport data, analysis and reporting systems, including proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Power BI, GIS, SQL, ExcelStrong experience articulating technical concepts and trends in plain English to non- technical stakeholdersProven track record of building strong and successful working relationships with both internal and external stakeholdersRobust knowledge and experience of risk management with data assetsSolid expertise in database and performance reporting softwareYou will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

We ensure the organisations and personnel involved in rail activity meet their safety duties and obligations and ensures system level risks are managed using education, engagement and regulatory enforcement.This role is part of the Rail Support Systems team, which supports the Rail Safety Regulator with reliable data analysis, assurance and information.
