Health & Safety Coordinator

NorthSawn Timber are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team at our sawmill and treatment plant operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a vital part in ensuring our two work sites remain safe, compliant, and aligned with best-practice health and safety standards.
As the Health & Safety Coordinator, you will work closely with and report directly to the Maintenance Manager. You'll also collaborate with the wider management team to foster a strong safety culture across both sites. Your focus will be on practical implementation and oversight of safety procedures, monitoring compliance, and supporting our teams to operate safely every day.
Responsibilities:- Support and monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across both sites.
- Assist with the implementation and review of Safety SOPs and ensure they are understood and followed by all staff.
- Carry out site inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Coordinate regular safety meetings and attend toolbox talks.
- Maintain H&S records, reports, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with all staff to identify and implement safety improvements.
- Provide ongoing training and support to staff.
- Proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally within an industrial, timber, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and documentation skills.
- A proactive and practical mindset with a hands-on approach.
- Relevant H&S qualifications are preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
