Orkney Group Limited is a well-established construction company in Wellington, specialising in new builds, renovations, maintenance, roofing, waterproofing, and interior/exterior painting. We take pride in delivering high-quality projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.

We are looking for a NZ based, (Wellington Region), skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for residential and commercial projects.
  • Manage contract administration in accordance with NZS 3910, ADNZ, MB, and other relevant building contracts.
  • Manage Pacifecon.
  • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct cost forecasting, risk analysis, and value engineering to maximise project efficiency.
  • Prepare and manage progress claims, variations, and final accounts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with New Zealand building regulations, industry standards, and contract obligations.
  • Provide financial reporting and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and manage project timelines using Microsoft Projex (or similar)
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the NZ construction industry with at least 5 years experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NZS 3910, ADNZ, MB, and other relevant contracts.
  • Excellent budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, contracts, and specifications.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in QS software (e.g., CostX, Cubit, or similar).
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
