Council’s Community and Engagement team is passionate about creating meaningful connections with community, staff and decision makers. We are seeking someone with specialised graphic design skills to work within our highly skilled communications team to guide the wider organisation on design projects, graphics templates and brand management.
As Council’s sole graphic designer, this permanent part-time role is involved in an array of tasks with the purpose of ensuring a professional and engaging portrayal of the work that we do.
Desired Skills and Experience
As the successful applicant you will have:
- A strong understanding of layout and design fundamentals in web and print media, with an exceptional eye for detail and design flair
- An ability to apply design skills to multiple mediums (e.g. web, print, photography) and styles (e.g. conversational, technical, formal and informal)
- An ability to create, deliver, edit and optimise communication materials produced by Council for a variety of audiences
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- An ability to work in a team environment and create strong working relationship with activity staff
- Qualifications in visual communications or graphic design; or equivalent work-based experience
- Knowledge of industry standards for visual design software packages
