Infield Service Technician (Hamilton)

Thermo King New Zealand has a great opportunity at our Te Rapa/Hamilton Branch.
You may also be required to work at our Auckland Based workshop in Manukau City.
Role: In-field Service Technician :We specialise in Transport Temperature Control Systems; from new equipment sales, to installation, service & repairs. The majority of work is on Truck & Trailer Refrigeration and bus Air Conditioning Systems. Some of this work is at our workshops and some is out in the field.
Once at the required technical level, you would be expected to take part in an after-hours callout roster.
We prefer someone with Refrigeration experience with any transport refrigeration equipment and Experience/Skills/Qualifications with one or more of the following.
Diesel Experience or Auto Electrical Experience, or a registered electrical worker, or Fitting / Mechanical / Welding Skills
In the role of Infield Service technician, you will be required to do the following:
Installation:- Assist the installation team fitting truck and trailer refrigeration units
- measuring and drilling truck/trailer insulated bodies, bolting up units/equipment
- fitting fuel tanks and running fuel lines
- fitting battery boxes to chassis and running battery cables
- Run/fabricate copper pipe work for multi-temp systems. Run and wire up electrical wiring harnesses.
- Fit engine compressor mount and drive kits and run refrigeration hoses.
- Mount controllers into the dash of trucks and run wiring to them.
- Fabricate/fit brackets as required and mount hardware and accessories.
- Program controllers, run and commission systems.
- Inspect and complete paperwork to a high standard.
- preventative and scheduled maintenance of transport refrigeration systems
- repairs of transport refrigeration systems
- diesel engine maintenance
- Hydraulic tail lift service and repair
If required, additional training will be provided.
A very good rate of Pay based on Skills.Range $40 - $50/hr for the right candidate
Minimum number of hours per week is 40hrs, current average for this position is 45 hours
