  • About the teamFollowing a review of the ICT function the Chief Ombudsman has decided to set up a new Project Management Office team to ensure there is a continuous improvement focus on project management standards, tools and practices across all technology enabled initiatives.The small PMO team engages specific temporary resources and works closely with the newly established Digital and Technology team and our technology partners to deliver prioritised projects.
The PMO team values the importance of understanding the business needs through sound business analysis and ensuring the solution is ready for implementation though effective testing prior to deployment.

A normal day revolves around engaging with key stakeholders, monitoring risks, issues, planning for change, project coordination and quality reporting.The PMO team is part of the Corporate Group.Our groups' whakatauki is: Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini.

  • About the roleThis role will help us bring discipline and quality to our project management journey.The Manager PMO role has strategic oversight, implementation and coordination of all technology enabled project management activities across the Office.Provides leadership and guidance to the PMO and the multi-disciplinary professionals.
This includes preparing and presenting updates to the relevant project/ governance board or committee.The role needs to establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, evaluate any gaps to assist in mentoring and training staff in the ways of best practice, and embed a continuous improvement practise across the Office.You'll be supported by a collaborative and cohesive group of corporate managers and their teams and your own PMO team.He kōrero mōu
  • About youThis role would ideally suit someone with a track record of successful IT project management from needs analysis and planning to embedding change and who can demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement and is confident in advising governance boards and questioning stakeholders so that risks, issues and challenges get resolved and projects deliver the benefits expected.To be successful in this role you will have:significant project management experience including leading a PMO or IT project teams backed by strong experience as a Project or Programme Manager leading projects from planning through to deliveryProject Management Professional (PMP) certification or understanding and preferably certification in P3M methodologies, such as PRINCE2, MSP, MOP, etcexperience leading and embedding organisational changeproven people management skillsthe ability to collaborate and achieve collective goalsTe painga o te mahi tahi me mātou
