We are currently seeking a talented Chef de Partie who is keen to support our team and produce creative and innovative gourmet dishes. Podium is a vibrant restaurant with an upbeat atmosphere.
This is a permanent full-time role based at Sudima Queenstown Five Mile. It is a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours from $29 - $31 per hour.

Sudima Queenstown is a new 4.5-star hotel in the bustling Frankton area conveniently located in the Five Mile retail precinct, with views of the surrounding landscapes, high-quality fit-out, well-appointed rooms, restaurant, bar and conference facilities.
This is role would suit applicants who thrive in a busy Kitchen environment and are keen to learn and grow their skills and experience in a great team.
Requirements- Managing the inventory of kitchen supplies, ordering ingredients and food supplies, and coordinating with suppliers to maintain an adequate stock level while minimizing wastage. Estimating food and labour costs.
- Coordinate food production and ensure food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards in preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are established and monitored to meet Brand Standard guidelines and maintained at that level. Work with the kitchen team members and take corrective action where appropriate, and within company guidelines, if standards are not met.
- Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients, as well as maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff.
- Providing guidance, training, and support to foster a positive and productive work atmosphere. Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
- Conducting regular inspections to ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the hotel's standards in terms of taste, presentation, and overall quality.
- Overseeing plating and presentation to ensure they meet the expectations of our guests.
- Assisting in executing all kitchen service including regular restaurant service, room service as well as conferencing and events.
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen, including fire safety, equipment maintenance, and staff training.
- Encourage and support junior chefs and kitchen assistants with training and personal development plans
- Ensure employee personal presentation is consistent with Sudima brand standards including correctly presented uniform and name badges, correcting and counselling employees when necessary
- Effectively communicate by briefing and debriefing employees, and actively encouraging transparent communication with other departments within the hotel
- Control wastage costs by following efficient preparation methods and standard recipes.
- Prepare and cook all food orders with a sense of urgency.
- About You | Ko Koe Tēnei
- NZ Register Level 4 qualification or above, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of modern cooking techniques
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Excellent communication and organizational skills Attention to detail and creativity in presentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Certificate or diploma in culinary arts or related field
- Experience in a hotel or restaurant environment is preferred
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays, based on a seven-day roster.
