It provides the majority of the surgical services for Northland, including a wide range of surgical sub-specialties and all emergency surgery for the region. The case-mix is varied and challenging, with a high volume of complex planned surgery as well as a busy trauma service.The Department of Anaesthesia is the largest department within the Surgical Service in Northland providing a 24/7 service to Whangārei Hospital as well as the planned surgery delivered at Kaitaia Hospital.
You will be joining a team of approximately 30 Specialist Anaesthetists, together with Anaesthetic SHOs and Registrars who rotate from the Auckland region as part of their training. We work with skilled anaesthetic technicians and other healthcare professionals.We are looking for a motivated consultant to provide effective and high-quality anaesthetic services to Northland community.There will be opportunities to teach/ train resident medical staff and students.About the LocationAs well as a warm climate, the winterless north offers excellent schools; affordable housing and scenic coastal areas offering a range of recreational activities.
