Cyber Security Engineer - Auckland
Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong focus on Microsoft Defender and Endpoint Security. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing and maintaining the cybersecurity posture of a dynamic, enterprise-scale environment.
About the Role In this role, you will support our client’s cybersecurity operations through endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and security incident response. You’ll work alongside wider IT teams to ensure the secure and efficient delivery of services, aligned with ITIL disciplines including Incident, Request, Problem, and Configuration Management.
This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives on tackling real-time threats and continuously improving defence strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Deploy, monitor, and maintain Microsoft Defender and endpoint protection tools across the organisation.
- Investigate and respond to endpoint-related security incidents and escalations.
- Contribute to vulnerability management, identifying and assisting in the remediation of risks.
- Work closely with IT operations to embed security across infrastructure and service delivery.
- Support integrated service management processes using ITIL-aligned practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in cybersecurity operations and response protocols.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Defender and endpoint security solutions.
- Hands-on knowledge of security incident response and vulnerability management.
- Understanding of ITIL frameworks and enterprise IT environments.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills in a security-focused context.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Security Operations Analyst, or equivalent (desirable).
