Au Mahi | What You Will Do
The Laboratory Manager plays a crucial role in delivering specialized applied chemical and analytical technical services, as well as providing efficient operational support for both teaching and research laboratories within the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.This extends not only to students and staff but also to external clients associated with the Department. In addition, you will offer expert advice and guidance on the safe handling of chemicals to students utilizing our facilities.
Mou | Who You Are
A successful applicant will hold a current Hazardous Substance Certification and will have the following:
- Minimum with a relevant Bachelor's Degree (NZQA Level 7) in Science, Chemistry or equivalent.
- Proficient (minimum 3 years of experience) with laboratory management.
- Proficient with analytical equipment and other general experimental equipment servicing and maintenance.
- Substantial relevant experience within complex environments, including significant experience applying technical skills.
- Experience with preparing and updating Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment.
- Experience with Chemwatch, or similar chemical safety, database.
- A commitment to high-quality work and professionalism and to keeping up to date in areas relevant to the position.
- Willingness to identify problems and when possible, resolve them.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
