OUR PURPOSE | ARONGA
Brackenridge is proud to offer mana-enhancing support across the Canterbury region. We are a registered charity that offers accommodation and daily living support to children, young people and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex support requirements in Canterbury. We advocate for the rights and prosperity of all of the people we support, along with their families and whanau.
Whether it’s planning tailored communication, positive behaviour approaches, learning life skills, participating in community activities, or gaining employment, we strive to support people to achieve the goals they seek. We walk alongside people (and their whanau) enabling and empowering them to live their good life as determined by them.
Our mana- enhancing and empowering approach is about tailoring supports to meet the aspirations of each person. Brackenridge isn’t a “destination”. We are an organisation that walks alongside people in ways and for as long as the person and family feel needed. We use evidence-based outcome focused approaches to ensure our practice is designed to support people to live the life they choose. We believe the best relationships are formed when people’s rights, strengths, abilities and beliefs are upheld and acknowledged.
We understand that all people should have choice and control over their own lives, support should be easy to use and available in a way that enhances the mana of the person, and that Brackenridge aims to make it easier for disabled people and their whanau to build strong relationships with the local community.
