Pastry Cook & Store Manager

Location: Auckland, Palmerston North

Key Responsibilities:

• Employed for the principal purpose of cake decorating and customer service duties in the front of the shop.
• Designing and decorating cakes and other bakery items according to customers’ specifications.
• Be able to use various cake-decorating instruments and tools.
• Perform shop set-up procedures and end-of-day procedures, including stock take.
• Cleaning and maintaining inside the showcase, including fine-tuning the showcase (e.g., doilies, labels, garnish fresh products).
• Replace products in the showcase as they become dry/maintain quality all day.
• Additionally, rotate showcase products in accordance with the Showcase Stock Rotation procedure.
• Cleaning as directed and as detailed in the New Employee Induction Training Guide.
• Date all products according to TCS standards.
• Perform cash register procedures/transactions as and when required.
• Perform phone answering procedures in accordance with the “Telephone Techniques” sign.
• Follow and maintain TCS uniform guidelines and ensure high personal hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Maintain Food Safety Plan and Occupational Health & Safety Reports.Identify and report possible safety hazards.
• Follow Procedures and Operations Manuals.
• Attend training sessions and any other tasks reasonably required and as directed.
• Train and coach new staff as and when required.

Job Requirements:

• Candidate should have 3 years of experience and relevant qualification.
• Should be physically fit.
• No Criminal record.
• Should follow safety measures.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the store.
• Supervise the staff and ensure the staff covers their working hours.
• Maintain good relations with the customers and ensure that the staff is aware of good customer relations skills.
• To check and maintain stock levels and supplies plus receive and check the deliveries.
• Ensure that all business & financial transactions are recorded.
• Make sure that the store is always secure and follows good workplace practices.
• Responding to customer inquiries.
• Health and safety rules & regulations for the store and customers are to be followed at all times.

Job Requirements:

• Must be available during weekends.
• Good communication & leadership skills.
• An ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations.
• Must have 3 years of experience for the role applying or a relevant qualification.
