Head of Health, Safety and Environmental

We are looking for an experienced and influential Head of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) to lead our safety vision across Energy Services, our infrastructure businesses (Electricity, Fibre and Generation), and the wider Northpower Group.

The Role

In this senior leadership role you'll lead our HSE delivery team and partner with executives, senior managers, and external stakeholders to build a culture of safety leadership, embed critical risk management, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and standards.

This is more than a compliance role. You'll:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of HSE professionals
  • Shape and execute HSE strategy aligned with Northpower's strategic goals
  • Embed and champion critical risk thinking and systems across the business
  • Represent Northpower with external stakeholders, including customers, regulators and industry forums
  • Continuously improve HSE performance and system effectiveness
About you
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or related field
  • 10+ years' experience in HSE, with 3+ years leading a safety function
  • A thorough understanding and experience in implementing contemporary safety principles and methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with a collaborative, people-first style
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach when needed
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
