The visitor host assists in all levels of day-to-day operations of the museum including delivering engaging guided tours, day to day enquiries and bookings, assisting with exhibitions and public programmes and delivering events.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about women's history and heritage and will be able to deliver high quality tours to a diverse range of groups of all ages.You will be a strong communicator, with the ability to confidently share Kate Sheppard's life and legacy and the history of the suffrage movement and campaign.
Essential:Experience speaking to large groupsAn ability to build on knowledge of the property's history and share it an engaging wayGood level of administrative tasks, including data collection, visitor bookings and merchandise.A reasonable level of physical fitness to set up/pack down event space and clean spaces.
Desirable:Ability to work unsupervised as part of a close-knit teamStrong organisational skills and efficiencyRetail experience and familiarity with Point of SaleExperience following best Health and Safety practice Advantageous:Understanding of stakeholder engagement and an appreciation of tikanga Māori.A relevant qualification in the arts, humanities or heritage and/or a working understanding of New Zealand histories.
Hourly rate $27.80 per hour.
Hours 10.30am- 4pm Friday and Sunday.Additional hours of work may be available.
