The Caretaker at River Lodge based in Reporoa plays a vital role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. This position requires a proactive individual who is capable of managing various maintenance tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs.
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
  • Manage cleaning schedules to ensure that all areas are kept tidy and presentable.
  • Oversee landscaping and gardening duties to maintain the outdoor spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist with setting up facilities for events or meetings as required.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering replacements when necessary.
  • Liaise with contractors for specialised repair works beyond the scope of general maintenance.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a hands-on approach to their work, strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members as needed. A commitment to upholding the standards of Tauhara North No.2 Trust is essential in this role.

Required skills:
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic maintenance and repair skills for buildings and grounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in record-keeping and reporting tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Required experiences:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a caretaking or maintenance role
  • Experience with landscaping and groundskeeping practices
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to property maintenance
  • Previous experience working in a community-focused environment preferred
  • A track record of effective collaboration with diverse teams or stakeholders
