The Caretaker at River Lodge based in Reporoa plays a vital role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. This position requires a proactive individual who is capable of managing various maintenance tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs.
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
- Manage cleaning schedules to ensure that all areas are kept tidy and presentable.
- Oversee landscaping and gardening duties to maintain the outdoor spaces.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist with setting up facilities for events or meetings as required.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering replacements when necessary.
- Liaise with contractors for specialised repair works beyond the scope of general maintenance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a hands-on approach to their work, strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members as needed. A commitment to upholding the standards of Tauhara North No.2 Trust is essential in this role.
Required skills:- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic maintenance and repair skills for buildings and grounds
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in record-keeping and reporting tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a caretaking or maintenance role
- Experience with landscaping and groundskeeping practices
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to property maintenance
- Previous experience working in a community-focused environment preferred
- A track record of effective collaboration with diverse teams or stakeholders
