Dargaville - Service Manager
SOS Kaipara is based in Dargaville and works throughout the Kaipara District, we provide specialist support, counselling, safe accommodation and prevention education services to women and children who have experienced family and / or sexual harm.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Service Manager to oversee and coordinate our Organisation’s essential services to our community. In this role, you would be responsible for securing funding, developing and supporting campaigns, local initiatives, and communication systems, while coordinating staff, and community partnerships.This role ensures high-quality, culturally safe, and accessible service provision, organisational sustainability, and strategic alignment with SOS Kaipara’s kaupapa. The role also provides leadership in advocacy, innovation, and collaborative efforts to address family and sexual violence in the Kaipara District and regionally and nationally.
Preferably Full-Time, but Hours negotiable.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:-- Professional Practice & Governance
- Ensure compliance with legislation, contracts, and quality standards, lead implementation of strategic and operational plans and provide monthly board reports
- Financial and Risk Management
- Set and monitor annual budgets, ensure timely and accurate reporting, oversee all payments and financial obligations in line with funding conditions and internal controls. Identify and manage organisational risks, secure and maintain funding, including preparing and submitting applications and tenders
- People and Performance
- Oversee HR functions, provide operational leadership and direction to the team, support wellbeing and ensure safe work practices and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture
- Service Delivery and Quality
- Maintain and continuously improve service systems and processes, ensure staff uphold SOS Kaipara's values, policies, and client-centred practice. Oversee all reporting requirements and uphold Crisis Line operations
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reputation
- Maintain strong relationships with local, regional and national partners, promote services at local events and through media/public channels and represent SOS Kaipara in regional and national collectives, forums, and sector development
- Strategic Direction and Development
- Align operations with strategic goals and community needs, identify and support opportunities for growth and innovation and ensure strong succession planning and organisational resilience
- Graduate Diploma in Not-for-Profit or Business Management (or equivalent experience in organisational leadership and management)
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Public Health, Community Development, or a related field
- Training or certification in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural competency, or working biculturally
- Understanding of Health and Safety, employment law, and/or NGO compliance frameworks
- Experience in crisis response, trauma-informed practice, or managing frontline social services
- Experience in leadership within the social services sector
- Familiarity with the sexual and family violence service landscape
- Clean NZ Driver’s Licence
- Police Vetting Clearance
- Commitment to regular professional supervision (external)
- Commitment to living a non-violent lifestyle in alignment with the philosophy and values of SOS Kaipara
SKILLS, ATTRIBIUTES & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, internet, and client management systems (e.g., Exess)
- Strong leadership and coordination skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Financial and budgeting expertise, including experience with accounting/payroll systems (e.g., Xero, Smart payroll)
- High level of integrity, initiative, and cultural responsiveness
- Strategic thinker with practical implementation skills
- Politically aware and committed to social justice
