Role Overview:

Position: Mobile/Workshop Technician - Vehicle Glass
Location: Timaru
Pay Range: $29.66 - $32.00 per hour
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent

  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening

About Novus Glass:

Novus Glass is a recognized and trusted name throughout New Zealand, providing comprehensive vehicle glass services to domestic and commercial customers. Our Timaru branch is looking for an experienced technician to complete both workshop and site-based vehicle glass replacement and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service by phone and in person
  • Convert customer enquiries into work orders and upsell services
  • Take customers from enquiry to completion, ensuring they are informed throughout
  • Perform workshop duties, including windscreen/window/mirror replacement and repair on small and large vehicles
  • Provide site-based services for clients, including windscreen/window/mirror replacement and repair, as well as fleet inspections
  • Perform ADAS recalibration services
  • Carry out windscreen chip repairs
  • Safely operate company vehicles and machinery
  • Ensure job-related administration and record-keeping is accurate and up to date
  • Maintain health and safety standards for self and others

What We're Looking For:

  • Prior experience in the automotive glass repair and replacement industry (essential)
  • Strong sales and customer service ability
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on quality
  • Strong communication skills in person and over the phone
  • Excellent physical fitness and agility - ability to climb ladders, lift products, and move in and out of vehicles
  • Confident computer skills, experience using in-house database or CRM systems
  • Ability to use hand-held technology such as tablets and smartphones
  • Capability to supervise the workshop in the absence of the branch manager if required
  • A skillset to progress into a workshop management role in the future is desirable

Additional Requirements:

  • Results-oriented team player
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including early starts, working past 5pm, and weekend call-outs as required
  • Comfortable driving up to 400km in a day for mobile services
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to complete work at client sites
  • Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
