Furniture Spray Painter / Finisher

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Spray Painter / Polisher / Finisher to join our team based in West Auckland. In this role, you will be responsible for prepping and painting cabinetry and doors before installation, ensuring a high-quality finish that meets the standards of our customers.

You will play a key role in bringing our products to life with your finishing skills, contributing to both aesthetics and durability. You will also be in charge of managing 1-2 staff underneath you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Surfaces: Sand, clean, and prep cabinetry and doors, ensuring they are ready for the application of paint, stain, or other finishes.
  • Spray Painting: Apply finishes to cabinetry and doors using spray painting techniques, ensuring smooth and even coverage.
  • Polishing and Buffing: Polish and buff finished pieces to achieve a professional, high-quality finish with an emphasis on sheen and smoothness.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed pieces to ensure the finish meets both quality and safety standards. Address and correct any imperfections.
  • Mixing and Handling Paints/Stains: Mix and prepare paints, stains, and other finishing products according to specified colors and formulations.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in optimal condition.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure pieces are ready on schedule for installation and delivery.
  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols and regulations related to the use of chemicals, machinery, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
What we're looking for!
  • Previous experience as a furniture spray painter, polisher, or finisher is preferred.
  • Knowledge of various painting, staining, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to work with a range of materials, including wood, MDF, and veneer.
  • Attention to detail with a passion for delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and practices in the use of chemicals and spray equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Capability to handle spray painting equipment and tools effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a well-ventilated space with exposure to fumes and chemicals.
