The OG service at Tairawhiti is a small, dynamic team looking to employ a suitably qualified OG specialist to join the service. This role will work collaboratively and cohesively with the other team members to provide effective services for the Tairawhiti region.
The Department is hospital based and provides a mix of inpatient, emergency and outpatient services for a community of approximately 50,000 people, with approximately 700 births per year.

Gisborne Hospital is the base hospital for the wide geographical area, Tairawhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic and skilled obstetrician and gynaecologist.

About you
Candidates applying for this position are expected to have a general scope of OG skills including;- Obstetrics: clinical expertise in the management of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care of obstetric patients with moderate levels of complexity including medical complications, abnormal labours and operative deliveries
- Gynaecology: colposcopy, LLETZ procedure, laparoscopic surgery and pelvic organ prolapse repair.
We are looking for applicants who are keen to work in partnership with our Head of Department and other team members to develop our OG services and work on continuous improvement within our Department.
Time is split with 70% clinical responsibilities and 30% non-clinical.
It is expected that you will also participate in the on average 1:4 or 1:5 (but can be 1:3 when necessary for internal cover) on-call roster covering maternity, acute gynaecology admissions and gynaecology inpatients.
Applicants must have Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) Vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be an overseas trained Obstetrician and Gynaecologist eligible for MCNZ Provisional Vocational registration under the supervision pathway in the Scope of Practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
