About the Role

We are seeking a motivated part-time physiotherapist to work in the Child and Adolescent Physical Therapy Team. The team comprises of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, a Seating Therapist, a Social Worker, Speech Language Therapists, a Therapy Assistant and Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists.

The Child and Adolescent Physical Therapy Team forms part of a wider community child health workforce that includes administrators, dieticians, nurses, and psychologists. There is also a close connection to paediatricians involved in the care of the children and young people who are referred to the service.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Child and Adolescent Therapy Team are based at the Child and Adolescent Community Centre (CACC) at Base Hospital but delivers care and services across the region in other health facilities, early childhood and school locations and in client homes.

Part of the physiotherapist role is to work closely with the orthotics department in a clinic environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a New Zealand-registered Physiotherapist with a current APC (or the ability to get one quickly) as well as:

  • At least 1 year experience as a Physiotherapist.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills and participate in professional development.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Good technical skills are necessary to be successful.

The role is busy and varied; it requires good organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload of children, often until age 16.
