Burnett Auto Electrical, Motueka's longest established Auto Electrical workshop, is seeking a fully qualified auto electrician or 3rd year apprentice to join our busy team. Motueka is a vibrant and fast growing town surrounded by lovely beaches and national parks.

The gateway to the Abel Tasman provides plenty of outdoor opportunities for the keen outdoor enthusiast as well as arts, cafes and restaurants. The semi-rural township is key in New Zealand's agricultural and horticultural industries.

The role contains a variety of commercial and private work. We have a huge variety of work coming through the workshop door or out in the field. An open mind and a can-do attitude is a must, and customer satisfaction is a high priority.

We are looking for a person with a good work ethic, awesome communication skills, initiative and the ability to prioritize workloads. If you are honest, reliable, friendly and able to work as part of a team then we would love to hear from you.

40hour work weeks with overtime opportunities (overtime rates apply). A company vehicle will be offered to suitable applicant.

Auto Electrician job responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults and computer-controlled systems used in automotive technology such
as private, commercial, and industrial vehicles
  • Determine if a repair, upgrade, or new installation is required and carry out the process accordingly
  • Provide an accurate break down of the time and costs involved to repair the identified fault
  • Calibrate and test any electrical components and wiring following installation, repair, or upgrade
  • Service or replace defective electrical parts and wiring
  • Order parts and equipment as required
  • Install and test immobilizer, alarm systems and electrically operated accessories such as radios and air
conditioners
  • Install/upgrade accessories
  • Test headlight strength and alignment
  • Safely use hand and electrical tools
  • Follow all relevant safety guidelines and procedures
  • Working with computer-controlled engine management systems
  • Servicing, identifying and repairing faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems
  • Installing and maintaining automotive electrical equipment
  • Reading and following wiring diagrams, and creating electrical circuits using a variety of inputs/outputs and
controls
  • Diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical and air-conditioning faults
  • Completing job card using SAM computer software
