Orchard Team SupervisorLocation: Paengaroa Horticulture Limited, Orchards all over the Bay of Plenty
Job Type: Full-time – minimum 30 Hours
We are a locally owned and operated Horticultural Contracting Company located in Paengaroa, we own, manage and service a large array of Kiwifruit Orchards throughout the Bay of Plenty, from the Lower Kaimai's, Katikati and as far as Edgecumbe and all in between.
About the Role:We are looking for a reliable and skilled Orchard Team Supervisor, you will be responsible for your Team meet the required targets for each Season within our Horticultural Contracting Business.
Key Responsibilities:Inducting and training of new Team Members on Orchard Pruning, Thinning, Training Vines, Weeding, Hoeing , Harvesting and cosmetic thinning processes to seasonal & market requirements and all other Orchard maintenance as required
Keeping accurate Timesheets and Staff Records
Conducting & participating in Health & Safety toolbox talks with your team to increase productivity (when necessary, as instructed by Management), helping to implement initiatives & offering solutions to the management team
Managing your team during peak seasons during the year is essential
Assisting other teams when needed
Promoting teamwork & creating a great working environment for your team
Ability to communicate with Manager/s about the performance of your team, & developing new ideas to better manage or to meet your team’s performance requirementsEnsuring procedures are followed for checking for pests and diseases, and to ensure your Team are trained correctly for insect identification and in use of Safety measures
Acting as a liaison between staff and management as required
What We’re Looking For:- 3 Years - Experience & Knowledge in the Kiwifruit Industry (preferred) & ideally in a supervisor position
Ability to work independently and as part of a team whilst maintaining a supervisory role
Ability to work under pressure, independently and as part of a team, to time constraintsMust have good communication skills – written & verbal, with a range of nationalities, staff, clients and other professionals within the industry
A strong work ethic and attention to detail
A commitment to safety and equipment care
Full Clean Driving License and reliable transport
Must be physically fit and be able to work as a part of a diverse and multi-cultural company
Ability to be flexible and work extended hours and weekends in peak seasons.
