The salary for this position is based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience, and vocational registration in NZ. SECA | ASMS

In addition to your salary, you will:

  • Receive an annual allowance cover your continued medical education expenses (including associated travel and accommodation costs) as well as paid time off to attend events including international conferences.
  • Have access to an employer matched Superannuation contribution of up to 6% of annual earnings.

As a consultant, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for our young patients. Your work will directly contribute to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents in our community.

The successful applicant will:

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for infant, young children, and youth with serious mental health conditions up to aged 18 years in Marlborough Community.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, utilising evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, mental health nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
  • Provide consultation and support to families and caregivers.
  • Have a passion for delivering high quality, evidence based, culturally responsive, and effective healthcare.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in partnership with multiple agencies and participate in community outreach and education initiatives.
  • Have leadership potential for further developing the iCAMHS service to achieve the best health outcomes.

The ideal applicant will:

  • Bring your experience and knowledge of attachment, the impact of adverse childhood events, developmental disorders, and childhood mental health disorders to contribute to advanced care of the population in the Marlborough region.
  • Hold Fellowship or Membership of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent.
  • Be eligible for an Annual Practicing Certificate and Vocational Registration of Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Have at least two years post-registration experience with iCAMHS inpatients or outpatients in clinical setting.
