Our Service is the only specialist sexual health provider in BOP and delivers a full and broad spectrum of services in our field.This role is particularly suited for a newly qualified Sexual Health Specialist to start a successful and satisfying career in Sexual Health Medicine.
There is room for growth of the FTEs attached to this job, pending a budget review and/or successful business case application.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleWe are looking to employ a Vocationally registered (or eligible for registration) Sexual Health Medicine Specialist (alternatively: a Sexual Health Medicine Registrar in their last year of training) to join the team in the Bay of Plenty, based in the Western Bay of Plenty.
This role requires clinical care delivery and non-contact clinical support of service delivery (eg support and supervision of the PGY2 and Nursing Staff, including audit of medications dispensed under Standing Orders).About the ServiceThe Bay of Plenty Sexual Health service provides services at both Tauranga (plus a weekly outreach clinic in Te Puke) and Whakatane locations.The service provides access to specialist services related to sexual health, via a self-referral pathway or responding to referrals from other providers (eg GPs, Family Planning, School Nurses, etc.). Liaisons with the HIV Team and Public Health are an integral part of the service.About youAs a successful candidate for this position:You are Vocationally registered (or eligible for registration) in Sexual Health Medicine with the MCNZ.
Alternatively, you are a Sexual Health Registrar in your last year of training, who has completed all the clinical attachments of the AChSHM training program and is expected to sit the Fellowship Exit Assessment later this year.You have demonstrable experience (eg logbooks or clinic sessions records) in: STI care, HIV PrEP & PEP, gender-affirming care, sexual dysfunction, genital dermatology, and contraception.You have achieved clinical excellence in Sexual Health Medicine, as demonstrated by published research in the field or presentations at national and/or international conferences.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
