The Role | Te Mahi
We have an opportunity for a Senior Chef De Partie to support our busy dinner service.
We are seeking a Chef De Partie to join our friendly kitchen team at The Lane Restaurant in Salisbury Street, adjacent to Sudima Christchurch City.
The Lane is a modern, all-day Canterbury bistro serving up delicious, relaxed fare.
This is a full time role, 30 hours per week guaranteed minimum, and has an hourly rate of $29 to $31.
Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa- Predominantly supporting our busy evening service
- Preparing and cooking excellent quality dishes to brand standards for the restaurant, bar, conferencing and room service on a day to day basis
- Support the Sous Chef and where appropriate guide junior kitchen team members
- Control wastage costs by following efficient preparation methods
- Ensuring all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations
- Offer flexibility with dietary needs and ensure excellent food hygiene and safety standard are adhered to
- Foster a great team environment of cooperation and respect between co-worker
- Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times
- Organising the shift, placing orders, prep completion and supporting the team to ensure the kitchen is always well prepared, clean and hygienic for each shift
- Assisting the Sous Chef with the general administrative duties running a busy hotel kitchen
Requirements
About you | Ko koe tēnei- Availability to work flexibly across rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays
- A minimum of 3 years previous experience as a Chef de Partie, in a medium to large kitchen
- Ability to multi-task, show flexibility, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Open communication skills and the ability to work well within a team as well as individually
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of planning and delegating multiple tasks
- Qualified culinary degree/certificate - Preferred, but not essential
- An understanding of culinary trends and a passion to gain new knowledge
- Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients and equipment
- Strong commitment to food safety requirements
- IT skills to assist with kitchen administration duties
- Current rights to work within NZ
- At least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed below. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. A qualification such as a certificate in Cookery (Level 4) will be an advantage.
- NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
