Social Worker - Family Protection Specialist - Christchurch
Permanent part-time contract (0.6FTE) 24 hours per week based at Hillmorton Hospital
- Days of work are Thursday, Friday and Saturday
- Registration with New Zealand Social Work Board and current APC essential
About the Role
This is a fast-paced role working within multidisciplinary teams, both within the Family Safety Service and at the Integrated Safety Response (ISR) table with other agencies as a representative of Health New Zealand. Serious reports of family violence are shared by the police, robust discussion held amongst the agencies, and safety and support plans are formulated.
We are seeking a skilled, passionate and resilient social worker within the family protection space to join our team in this permanent part time role.
Utilise your experience supporting referrals from Health New Zealand staff pertaining to intimate partner abuse, maternal care and wellbeing, and elder abuse where there are concerns for abuse and neglect. Provide guidance to staff seeking to manage cases where patients are experiencing abuse and neglect.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in the Police Integrated Safety Response process to promote immediate safety for families experiencing family violence
- Ensure daily preparation is completed in line with Health New Zealand and ISR information sharing agreements
- Attend ISR Inter-agency meetings - Safety Assessment Meetings
- Creating risk statements based on information from all partnering agencies in relation to risk for future family violence
- Participate in Professional Hui with plan leads and partnering agencies
- Complete case consultations with colleagues and other health professionals
- Update records on all relevant information systems to reflect the plans and completion of assigned tasks
About You
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Child, Family and Safety Service in this permanent part time role. We want to hear from you if you have the following skills:
- Registered Social Worker (NZSWRB) with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Prior experience working in Care, Protection and Family violence settings
- Experience in coaching and mentoring of staff
- Excellent networking and relationship building skills
- Ability to work within an emotionally challenging environment
- Computer literacy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A current full driver - s licence
- Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
