About the Role:

BestStart Howick is a small, family-centered centre, focused on building strong, reciprocal relationships with tamariki, their whanau, and our team. With a beautiful outdoor environment and a commitment to celebrating diversity, we foster learning through discovery, play, and community connections.

Our 'Set for School' programme is key in preparing preschoolers for a smooth transition to primary school.

We're looking for a collaborative Head Teacher to Lead our small centre team who values bicultural and multicultural practices, promotes great learning outcomes, and communicates openly to build strong relationships. A sound knowledge of the Local Curriculum and a focus on inclusiveness are essential, as well as a hands-on approach to working with tamariki.

This is a permanent position working 40 hours Monday-Friday

Role requirements:

We're looking for a natural leader who shares our values and vision who has a good understanding of programme planning and assessment as well as a drive and passion for growth.

As well as:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current teacher registration/certification
  • A strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy and curriculum
  • Good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
