About the Role The Senior Payroll / HRIS Administrator is responsible for providing payroll and HRIS system support, advice, and services to ensure employees receive accurate and timely payroll assistance. This role also supports the Payroll Manager by taking leadership as the first point of contact for Payroll and HRIS Administrators, offering guidance and issue resolution.Operating with minimal supervision, this role actively participates in the day-to-day administration, maintenance, reporting, and operations of the payroll system.
The Senior Payroll / HRIS Administrator ensures that all processing and related activities are completed accurately and on time, contributing to the overall efficiency and compliance of payroll functions within the organisation.About the Team/Service/ Location This role is based at Dunedin Hospital and sits within the People and Communications team, specifically in the Payroll area.You'll be working alongside a dedicated, collaborative, and high-performing team that is passionate about delivering exceptional payroll and HRIS support.Our team is driven, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused, fostering a supportive and dynamic work environment.

You have a strong customer focus, ensuring employees receive accurate and timely support, and you approach your work with integrity and trust.You thrive in problem-solving, can work independently with confidence, and are also a supportive senior team member, offering guidance and leadership when needed.
Balancing multiple priorities comes naturally to you, and you excel at managing a busy and varied workload with efficiency and attention to detail.4-5 years NZ payroll experience2+ years' experience in a large complex payroll environment2+ years working in an environment with multiple collective agreementsAdvanced Excel skills are essential (eg.
pivot tables, v-lookups, macros)Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookWorking at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is ‘the weaving of wellness'.
