Experienced Shepherd
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Shepherd to join our team at Peel Forest Estate. About Us: Peel Forest Estate is recognised as a New Zealand and Global leader in red deer genetics. The farm encompasses 2,800ha in the foothills of Mt Peel and runs 24,000 stock units, producing Velvet, Venison, and Trophy genetics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day livestock handling, including drafting, weighing, and drenching of all stock.
- Ensuring the highest level of care is taken when handling stock whether it be velveting, drafting, weighing, drenching, or moving stock.
- Recording and reporting of stock movements, administering of animal health treatments, and the receiving and use of farm supplies as directed in the farm and animal health plan.
- Implementing feeding programs and ensuring livestock nutrition and health are maintained year-round.
- Monitoring pasture management to meet key targets for optimal stock performance.
- Promoting a culture of health and safety across all farm activities.

Qualifications and Skills:
To succeed in this role, you will bring:- Proven experience working with deer or other livestock in a similar farm environment is ideal.
- Strong stock handling skills and a commitment to animal welfare.
- Experience with pasture management and feeding regimes.
- Be highly organised and planned.
- Bring an attitude of continuous improvement.
- Have at least two reliable working dogs.
