School Canteen Supervisor/Cook - Gore
Monday to Friday 7am – 2.45pm (during school terms only)
Cater Plus is proud to operate the school canteen at Southland Boys’ High School and we are seeking an energetic and organized hospitality superstar with a can-do attitude to manage the canteen and provide great food and friendly service to the students and staff.
The canteen offers a wide variety of nutritious food and consideration is carefully given to the dietary and cultural needs of the boys as well as adhering to the food and beverage classification system for schools. The main focus is on providing good quality food with exceptional value for money.
Being a fast-paced environment, and with a part-time Catering Assistant and student helpers to help with service during breakfast, intervals, and lunchtimes, there will never be a dull moment.
What you’ll do:- prepare, cook, and present appetising food offerings catering for various dietary requirements
- ensure the kitchen/canteen is kept clean, safe and hazard free
- train and supervise Catering Assistant and student helpers, motivating them to provide an efficient, friendly, and safe service
- administrative tasks such as ordering, timesheets, managing budget, cashing up, food safety
- complete regular mandatory reporting to ensure responsible and effective management of canteen.
- a hospitality superstar with experience in a school or similar environment
- have knowledge of food safety, preferably online systems such as Safe Food Pro, Chomp, or similar.
- a flexible team player, with a committed attitude who can stay cool under pressure.
- friendly and engaging and enjoy interacting with students.
- organised and comfortable with the use of technology to carry out administrative tasks
This position is working Monday to Friday, 7am – 2.45pm, and is educational meaning there is no guarantee of work during school holidays – giving you more time to spend with family and enjoy the sun.
