Your key role | To turanga matuaWhat does a Support Worker do?
This is a sleepover role (between 10 PM – 7 AM or 11 PM – 7 AM) where you will be staying overnight to make sure the client is safe, comfortable, and well looked after. You will be there in case they need a hand during the night.
- Helping with 4-hourly turns to keep the client comfortable and support their skin
- Giving medication if client is awake—or waiting until the next turn if they’re not
- Offering a drink, helping with the toilet, or changing the bed if needed
- Supporting with any light personal care, if they ask for it during the night
- Keeping the space calm, clean, and tidy
This role suits someone who's quietly confident, calm under pressure, and happy to work independently through the night while still being a warm and respectful presence.

- Minimum Level 3 in Health and Wellbeing qualification or its equivalent from another country is beneficial but not necessary.
- Full NZ Driver's License
- A reliable vehicle of your own
- A valid and current Basic First Aid Certificate is required. If you do not have one, you must provide evidence of a confirmed booking before starting employment.
- Candidates must be able to pass a Police Check or undergo vetting. To fast-track your application, simply request a copy of your recent Police Vetting Result from your current or past employer. This will help speed up your hiring process!
