About the role- Kōrero mō te tūranga The purpose of this role is to lead New Zealand's engagement with multilateral development banks (MDBs), primarily the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
The role will act as a thought leader and be a senior representative to those institutions.
You will be responsible for: Helping to form and prosecute New Zealand's interests at the MDBs Helping to maximise the benefits of New Zealand's participation in the MDBs Developing and influencing a clear map of relationships with decision-makers, policy-makers and thinkers that advance the division's objectives Understanding the Ministry's strategic priorities and high-level outcomes framework and how this role contributes to the framework For more detail you can request a copy of the position description by emailing recruitment@mfat.govt.nz The full salary range for this role is $144,934 and $196,087 total remuneration, inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
The midpoint is $170,510.We expect to appoint depending on your level of experience.

We'd like to hear from you if you are experienced with the following skills and experience: Ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships with key internal and external contacts Ability to represent at a high and/or technical level in international meetings Ability to research and analyse issues and develop appropriate recommendations Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure Sensitive to and appreciative of EEO issues The ability to facilitate complex tasks in a multi-disciplinary environment Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols would be beneficial.
Qualifications Post-graduate degree in economics, international finance, international relations, political science or an equivalent qualification in a related field; or equivalent level of experience working in a role related to the work of the MDBs.
Some level of formal economics or finance qualification, or equivalent work experience, is strongly preferred.An understanding of the challenges facing small island states or other fragile economies is an advantage.
