Whitehall Fruitpackers is a progressive horticultural company based in the Waikato. While our main focus is on our 270+ canopy hectares of green and gold kiwifruit, (with a strong focus on organics) we are involved in most primary production including dairy farming, dry stock, apiaries and forestry.
We have an exciting opportunity to be a part of our growing team. You will be coming in as our Human Resource and Health & Safety Manager, supporting our senior management team in all forms of HR Practices, H&S, wellness and sustainability of our people.Reporting to the Directors, you will collaborate closely with the senior management team and our 50+ full-time staff to influence and engage in HR practices. This will include end-to-end recruitment, training, development and organising company events.
This role requires someone who is versatile, organised, systematic, reliable and a team player. You will be working alongside a very dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable team of the industry. The responsibilities of the role are split with a 3:1 ratio of HR and H&S weighting.
The successful applicant will manage the following:Human Resources:
- Ensuring excellent employment relations are achieved through creating positive working relationships with all team members
- To develop and deliver a range of HR services across the business to help the company achieve its objectives surrounding people, performance and culture.
- Maintaining high levels of organisation for the HR function to support the senior management and team leaders.
- Conducting end-to-end recruitment processes (advertisement, inductions, onboarding, training and management of training records).
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with the different teams and actively looking at ways to support team objectives and targets.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant and up-to-date industry information and current legislation
- Actively promote H&S culture within the company
- Managing the H&S systems and overseeing the administration of the online H&S system
- Reporting to management incidents/accidents and investigations.
- Maintaining the training and competency documentation
- Actively involved in H&S incident investigations
- Maintain knowledge of relevant and up-to-date industry information and current legislation
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources with minimum 2 years of experience
- To have proficient computer literacy
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work alone if required
- An attention to detail while being proactive and having initiative
- Good time management to finish tasks in a timely manner
- A valid New Zealand driver’s license
