- About the roleSouthern is looking for a Health Psychologist based in Invercargill, ideally on a full-time basis (40 hours per week), to support a range of services across adult and paediatric outpatients.
The Physical Health Psychology service is a highly valued service at Southland Hospital and provides a unique opportunity for a psychologist to have an incredibly varied caseload whilst working across the lifespan.The duties of this position will include the following:Support the provision and delivery of a high-quality health psychology service at Southland Hospital, InvercargillEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with health professionals from multiple servicesProviding psychological advice, consultation and training to non-psychological colleagues working across a variety of health servicesManagement of a varied caseload including the assessment, formulation and intervention of anxiety and mood difficulties relevant to patients with long term physical health conditions across a wide range of services including (but not limited to) Diabetes, Cardiology, Respiratory, Stroke, Renal, Bariatrics and GastroenterologyProvide psychological interventions that promote rehabilitation and psychological wellbeing including support for adjustment and/or treatment adherence at the time of diagnosis or acute/significant change in medical status or treatmentWorking autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Southern policies and proceduresAccess to health psychology administrative support to support them administratively in their roleSupported through specialist individual clinical supervision, a generous CME allocation, attendance at southern wide monthly psychology meetings and have opportunities to connect with other psychologists working in physical health contexts across the country through online special interest/supervision groupsView position descriptionMōu ake
