Nga Maihi Youth Support Worker - Christchurch
We are looking for a team member who is skilled in building relationships with rangatahi. This is a meaningful position that seeks to make a positive difference in working with youth who have experienced significant trauma. You will work in collaboration with other agencies in helping rangatahi achieve independence and support them through their mental health journey.
About The role | Mo Te Tunga
Your main objective will be assisting rangatahi, aged 16 to 24 years of age, to develop life skills in safe and stable accommodation as they leave Oranga Tamariki’s care and who want to be in accommodation that supports their journey to independence of services.Each day will be different from the last and you will be supported in this role from the collaborative partners: Stepping Stone Trust, Purapura Whetu Trust, and Odyssey House Christchurch. We have joined together to bring our collective knowledge and experience to provide innovative and responsive services to rangatahi.
About you | Mou
You will have:- A caring and compassionate nature with good communication skills.
- A Level 4 Health & Wellbeing Certificate in Mental Health.
- A commitment to enabling the rangatahi we support to walk confidently in the/their world.
- A passion to work with rangatahi, support them to access resources and to ultimately determine and manage their hauora outcomes.
- A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Clear Police Check & VCA vetting.
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
