- We are currently seeking a support worker to join our team of passionate working professionals. 24 hours per week . Tuesday - Friday 8.30am - 3pm

As a Peer Support Worker, you will use your lived experience to walk alongside whanau experiencing homelessness to support them through their journey into sustainable housing.
Peer Support Workers will promote mutual relationships enabling whanau to be included and connected in the community, while supporting them to have a better quality of life.
You will use the Housing first principles such as Manakitanga (Enhancing one’s mana), Rangatiratanga (Supporting Self determination) and Whanaungatanga (Positiveconnections) to deliver effective Peer Support practice to the whanau we serve.
Duties | Mahi- Outreach to whanau in any environment, including Merge Café, the public space, emergencyhousing, and their own home.
- Provide intentional peer support alongside Housing First Key Workers
- Help bridge the relationship between whanau and Key Worker.
- Advocate for whanau rights emphasizing self-determination and choice.
- Assist whanau in achieving their goals related to housing stability, mental health, substance use,and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with Housing First teams and other service providers to support whanau to accessnecessary resources, including housing, healthcare, employment, and social support.
- Understand the position of Maori as the tangata whenua. Commitment to the principles of theTreaty of Waitangi and an openness to understanding the application of the articles of Te Tiriti inthe context of The Lifewise Trust.
- Promotes a culture where health and safety are seen as integral to success through planning,delivery, monitoring and review of health and safety processes.
- Lived experience with homelessness, mental health and addictions is essential.
- Completion of a Peer Support Course (if you have not completed this you will be supported to complete this training) Level 4 Health and wellbeing-Peer Support Stream.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of the social service system in New Zealand and resources available to individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Outlook (emails), using Recordbase or willingness to learn.
- A full driver’s licence (or working towards a full driver’s licence)
